What is venture capital?

By on November 11, 2010

To kick off our series on 50 questions you should ask when you raise venture capital, Nic Brisbourne and I each wrote a post today.

Mine focused on “What is an investor”.

Nic is answering the question “What is venture capital”. He describes it as:

money invested in high risk startups by venture capitalists on behalf of institutional investors with the aim of making outsize returns.”

Each of the items in italics merits further discussion. Head over to the Equity Kicker to find out more from Nic.

We’ll publish the full list of questions tomorrow.
