Keep scaring people! The more developers that are afraid to try launching on Facebook, the less competition I have. :)

But really, these changes aren't the end of a fad, and they're not mind-blowing.

WHAT?! You need business sense and *a plan* to be successful? WHAT?! You have to *spend money* to get players? Come on, this isn't rocket science.

But, yeah, Facebook is so 2009. :p

The issue for many small games businesses is that they're simply not that interested in business. They want to believe the myth that the secret to successful games is to be REALLY GOOD at writing REALLY GOOD games in Flash, or whatever language you're using.

The successful indie games on Facebook appear to be the ones with:

- Excellent understanding of the business model and constraints of Facebook gaming
- Fairly good game design
- The most basic programming possible to deliver

Many of the most successful Facebook games from small developers are written in old fashioned, non-5 HTML for goodness sake! Technical game development skills are just not that valuable on Facebook... but they are the skills that many game developers value above all others.
