I'm not really a gamer but the ease of the App Store and interface of IPod Touch have tempted me to shell out on a few games just for the hell of it (as well as lots of other handy/fun Apps). The pricing is also right for a marginal gamer like me - it's as much to see how cool the games look and use the touch/tilt interface as to play the thing itself.

How many App publishers/writers actually make any money is an interesting question, but with the volumes visiting the App Store the potential is huge for the right product.

Single greatest thing about the iPhone for the User/Developer/Publisher? iTunes.

A single global marketplace with a sensible business model, trusted by the end users. which other operator can deliver that in the near future?

And it's a marketplace open to all - so there are a zillion little games and apps which I think are probably growing that market rather than taking a lot away from existing formats.

Of course, having a zillion competitors - all equally promoted - produces its own problems. But it's an interesting problem :-)
